Pink Navel Oranges - Flavor Ripe from California
Cecelia Packing Corporation is a leader in the growing, harvesting and packing of this Specialty Navel Orange. The exterior is a full-colored orange and the inside pulp is a rich pink with crisp citrus aroma. We begin harvest in early to mid December and have volume supplies from January through March.
The interior color is created by a carotenoid called Lycopene. It is from the beta-carotene family, which gives other fruits and vegetables a red color as in tomatoes, pink grapefruit, watermelon and guava. Recent studies have shown that diets rich in foods containing Lycopene are strongly linked to a reduced risk of some cancers, and may actually help prevent prostate cancer. This makes for an important part of the health conscious consumers' diet.
The Cecelia Cara Cara's flavorful taste is of orange combined with undertones of sweet grapefruit and cherry. It is relatively low in acid, juicy, mostly seedless and very delicious. Originally from Venezuela, the fruit is round and medium to large sized.
